While the Green Grass Grows plot
Only through his camera can filmmaker Peter Mettler relate to the world, study himself and the people around him, and share his insights. This also applies to his relationship to the phenomenon of time and the finitude of earthly existence. He is confronted with this when his mother dies and his 90-year-old father will irrevocably follow - despite his cheerful zest for life. Mettler asks existential questions to his parents and friends. At the same time, he focuses his camera on nature: the Swiss Alps, where his parents come from, and the forests of his own native country, Canada.
