Welded Together plot

While Katya, a young, talented welder, is trying to get her life back on track, loneliness also gnaws at her. When she decides to reconnect with her family, she's confronted with a harsh reality. Her addicted mother lives with her half-sister, Amina, in a filthy apartment. Katya hopes to reunite the family and prevent Amina from growing up in a dysfunctional household. Katya has never fully recovered from the traumas of her own childhood. Is her half-sister now destined for the same fate?

A 21-year-old Belarusian welder tries to leave her traumatic past behind by standing on her own two feet, until she realizes that the same thing will happen to her very young half-sister if she doesn't intervene. To do so, she must confront not only her traumas and insecurities, but also a bureaucratic system. The editing is more reminiscent of a strongly acted psychological drama than a documentary. Intense, but not entirely convincing.
