Welcome to Babel plot

Chinese-Australian artist Jiawei Shen loses all faith in his homeland after the Cultural Revolution. In a four-part work called Tower of Babel he processes the tragedy of international communism. He works on this masterful work of art in his three-storey studio for seven years. He interweaves hundreds of portraits of celebrities with 130 iconic works of art by Picasso, Matisse, Léger and Frida Kahlo, among others. The work is a reconstruction of the utopia and tragedy of communism in the 20th century.
