War Child plot
Sudan-born hip-hop star Emmanuel Jal scored hits in England and the United States. Before becoming a successful rapper, he served as a child soldier in the Sudan People's Liberation Army for nearly five years. Thanks to an aid worker, he manages to escape the army. Since then, Jal has been committed to peace in Sudan and a better future for Africa. On the CD War Child, released in 2008, Jal raps about his experiences. In the film of the same name, director Christian Karim Chrobog sketches Jal's lost years in the army. The rapper is still struggling with his past. He returns to his native country and after nearly twenty years is reunited with his father, sisters and other relatives.
