Vikarien plot

Max Wejstorp is an ambitious substitute teacher at a school in a suburb of Stockholm. However, he becomes increasingly disillusioned with his job because he has to deal with problem children. He calls his old mentor, 73-year-old Folke Silvén, a legend in Swedish education circles, and asks for help. Folke travels to Stockholm, and together they try to make a difference in the lives of the students. The film shows the clash between the traditional approach and the modern approach of students, as well as the cultural differences between the old and the new Sweden.
