Van Mannen en Merries plot

The documentary follows two arable farms that still work with draft horses during the farming season. The company of father and son Mol in Waarde is a classic Zeeland arable farm of 45 hectares. Paauwe in Gapinge, on Walcheren, with a farm of 18 hectares, is a part-time farmer. He and his workmate Verhage also have a full-time job. Like father and son Mol, they learned from their fathers and grandfathers how to handle draft horses from an early age. Central to the documentary is the relationship between the men and their mares, a sober yet loving relationship. 'Van Mannen en Merries' shows a very unique world of draft horse owners and breeders that one could not have imagined that it still exists.
