Utopie van Sofie plot

Explora, a special class for gifted children, was started in Breda, set up by Sofie on behalf of two schools. She is a specialist in giftedness in children and notices that this group is often not recognized, even though they have the same problems as children who cannot cope with the educational level, such as dropout, boredom and depression.

Sofie van de Waart founded a part-time school for the gifted in Breda together with Marleen Kil. She is passionate about her program Explora and her enthusiasm grows when she sees the children blossom and hears them say that they (finally) feel challenged and seen. Sofie only discovered that she had ADHD when she was 35, and that often hinders her in communicating with the people on whom the survival of the project depends. This documentary provides a glimpse of the mystery through brief portraits of four children. There is no trace of a utopia, which makes the title - which gives the impression that a (successful) gifted school is a utopia - quite misleading. Interesting, especially for people with an educational background, but there is no storyline. This makes it very episodic.
