Untertage plot

Impressionist documentary about a journey to an unknown world deep underground: a coal mine. Beauty and danger go together in this world on the brink of heaven and hell. It is literally written deep underground in chalk on the carved wall and, to avoid any mistake, with an arrow pointing in the right direction: zur Hölle, to hell. It is the black humor of the miners of the German coal mine Lohberg-Osterfeld in the Ruhr area. Day in, day out, they descend into the shafts of this cavern that reaches almost 1,300 meters deep.
