Tukdam: Between Worlds plot

In the West, death is regarded as something final. But a special Tibetan phenomenon shows that the line between life and death is sometimes not so clear. In tukdam, Buddhists die in meditation in a controlled manner and often remain upright. The body shows no signs of decay for days. From the Tibetan Buddhist point of view, the person has not yet died, consciousness is present and keeps the body from decomposition. The film follows the first-ever scientific study of tukdam, led by University of Wisconsin neuroscientist Richard Davidson.
