Too Soon for Sorry plot
For years, hip-hop culture has been presented in the media as an authentic expression of life in black ghettos. This documentary shows the contrast between these idealizations of young blacks and Latinos in the media, sports and entertainment industries, and the reality of the ghettos and American prisons. The way blacks appear in the media, along with social and economic factors, creates a vicious circle that relegates an entire generation of African Americans and Latinos to the sidelines. Weingartner shows how difficult it is for young blacks to escape their stigma and how discrimination still plays a role. The film consists of interviews, a look into the daily lives of a number of prisoners, television fragments and commercials that have been edited together in a kind of hip-hop style.
