The documentary focuses on the obsessions of our own time with which the past is interpreted: on the one hand that Joan Collins has always been an independent woman ("I am a feminist") and on the other hand that women, including Joan, in the acting business have always been sexually and financially abused and exploited (but in doing so they show themselves to be strong 'because they survived').
