The Seer and the Unseen plot
Grandmother and 'seer' Ragga is known for her ability to communicate with a parallel realm of elves, or huldufólk (hidden humans). A cultural phenomenon that half of Icelandic society believes in. Government officials, businesses, and individuals regularly hire her to consult elves on what land they can and cannot build on. And then suddenly a road has to be built, one of many unnecessary projects spurred on by Iceland's 2008 financial crisis. The road will be built right through an ecologically important lava field, which also houses an elf temple. Together with conservationists and other believers, Ragga takes on the political battle.
