The Other Final plot

Summer 2002. While millions of television viewers around the world anxiously await the final of the FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea, the two lowest ranked football teams in the FIFA world rankings are preparing for 'the other final'. They are the teams from the Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan and that of the Caribbean volcanic island of Montserrat. Two worlds of difference, and two countries that were unaware of each other's existence, until they were invited to this alternative World Cup competition, which was organized by the Dutch marketing agency KesselsKramer. The Other Final follows the players of both teams in the run-up to the match and paints a picture of everyday life in both countries. The film shows proof that the passion for the game can bring people closer together.
