The Making of Oom Jo plot
In 2013, actress Carolien van den Berg received an amount from the Sjoa Foundation. It concerns compensation for the 'uncollected policy of Jo van den Berg', her father's brother, who was murdered in 1943 in Sobibor. Carolien decides to use Uncle Jo's legacy to write and produce a performance about her family's tragic fortunes. For this, Carolien goes in search of the penetrating survival story of her father Bob, after he was arrested during the raid in the Amsterdam clothing factory Hollandia – Kattenburg. Gradually, she discovers the painful story that her father could never tell her.
