The Harvest plot
The story of children who work twelve to fourteen hours a day, seven days a week. They pick the food that others eat. They work in contemporary America. Each year, more than 400,000 children come to work in the scorching sun in the onion fields of Texas, or in the winter snow of Michigan, for example, to pick apples. Every year they have the same concerns: which families will be so 'lucky' to get work at all? Which families will have to split up to complete the work? Who will get sick or injured? And who will ultimately be able to keep his or her dreams alive?
