The Godfathers of Mondo plot
A documentary about the careers of filmmakers Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi and the origins of the mondo genre. What is important here is that they talk contextually about each film, each success, each failure and each controversy, because context is essential in the shockumentaries Mondo Cane (1962), Addio Africa (1966) and Addio Zio Tom (1971). Riz Ortolani also gives his thoughts on working with them, as he provided the amazing, haunting scores for the films. Because there were only a few people involved, the images and conversation add an extra dimension to what appears to be a disgusting subgenre.
