The Four Year Plan plot
"A bankrupt football club. Billionaires with a blueprint. What could go wrong?"
In 2007 the ailing London football club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) was bought by some billionaires, making them the richest club owners in the world. For four years, Mat Hodgson followed the club and its bosses in their pursuit of the most lucrative promotion in competitive football: from Championship competition to the Premier League. Hodgson is on top of events. He observes and listens in - eavesdrops, even. The camera records meetings, telephone conversations, match visits and get-togethers that show the turbulent and dramatic developments of four seasons of QPR. The club sometimes rises in the rankings, but falls much more often. Managers come and go all the time. The fans, who at the beginning thanked the owners profusely for saving their club, are losing faith and are staying away from the games. When Neil Warnock is hired as manager in 2010, the fifth of the season, the tide seems unlikely to turn.
