The Forbidden Strings plot
"Laborers during the day, rock musicians during the night, three Afghan boys and a girl born and raised in Iran, go on a journey to perform their first rock concert ever in a war-torn motherland they have never seen: Afghanistan."
Despite the disapproval from their environment, they have been making music together for years. Akbar, Soori, Mohammed and Hakim are the only young immigrants to form a rock band in Iran. However, one thing is still missing: performance. The Forbidden Strings introduces the music group as a foursome struggling to be heard and follows the band members leading up to a historic day. The four musicians are children of Afghan parents who have fled to Iran and as such are at risk in their motherland. That's why family members are worried.
