The Day My God Died plot

The day I was sold was the day my God died." For example, many women who have been victims of human trafficking describe their feelings of despair and abandonment. In The Day My God Died they tell their story. The going price for a young woman in India is about 50,000 rupees - less than 1000 dollars. Under false pretenses, naive girls from the countryside are lured and transported to the city, where they are sold to brothel owners and severely beaten. Against all the harrowing stories, the film also offers perspective: more and more organizations are successfully campaigning for the release of these girls. Actors Tim Robbins and Winona Ryder collaborated on the film, which features never-before-seen spy-camera footage of brothels in Bombay.
