The Agronomist plot

"You Cannot Kill the Truth with a Bullet."

Jonathan Demme's protagonist is the radio journalist and political activist Jean Dominique, who bought the small Radio Haiti Inter in 1968. He delivered broadcasts that were revolutionary in that they spoke in the language of the common people (Creole instead of French). Haiti went through several periods of dictatorship in which the radio station was shut down or shot down and the intrepid journalist imprisoned or exiled. He was murdered during the political unrest of 2000. The film primarily tells the tragic story of haunted Haiti, but also provides insight into the operations of the American intelligence services during the various political upheavals. Haiti is part of America's backyard and the gardener turns out to have his own methods.
