Svéd v Zigulíku plot
Avtovaz Car, the manufacturer of Lada, among others, is one of the largest state-owned companies in Russia and one of the largest car factories in the world. The company is a great pars pro toto for contemporary Russian society and so it is portrayed in this witty satire, starring Bo Andersson, the new Swedish manager. Everything about the factory and what goes with it bears witness to the bygone heyday of communism—such as the staggering complex of countless buildings, the tens of thousands of employees, many of whom are in obscure jobs, the ice-bathing club, the unused riverboat and the ostentatious wealth in the boss's house.
