Sunless Shadows plot
In an Iranian juvenile detention center a group of underage girls are serving their sentences for a serious crime: the murder of their father, their husband or another male relative. Three of the girls committed the murder together with their mothers, who are awaiting execution in another prison. Filmmaker Mehrdad Oskouei followed and observed them for a while.

It is remarkable, to say the least, that Oskouei was given permission to film in an Iranian juvenile detention center where teenage girls and young women are being held for serious crimes. But Oskouei gives you time to get to know the ladies as people before revealing why they're stuck. They are so open about their family history and the motives for their act and every now and then it seems like fun. Perhaps startling is a better description.
