Sun Kissed plot
"One gene exposes a nation's dark past."
Dorey and Yolanda Nez are a Navajo couple whose children were born with xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a rare genetic disorder that causes skin cancers when exposed to sunlight. After losing all their sons to this neurodegenerative disease, their lives revolve around caring for their daughter Leanndra, whose condition is rapidly worsening. Dorey and Yolanda are left to their own devices to deal with this devastating reality. The Navajo tradition points an accusing finger at them for being to blame for their children's predicament. But then they learn that there are many other families on the reservation with the same condition. Dorey and Yolanda embark on a quest to find out why this disease came into their lives...
