Strike a Rock plot
In the South African mining community of Marikana, police opened fire on striking workers in 2012, killing an unprecedented 34 men. Community women begin a fierce battle against the mining company, which is scandalously ignoring legal housing requirements. Two grandmothers are the main activists, and the bold Primrose even manages to secure a seat in parliament. That suddenly takes their fight to another level. In this intimate and closely filmed story, impoverished but combative women wonder why they get so little in return for the expensive platinum they have to dig up for rich Britons day in and day out. Their years of struggle for justice and appreciation seem to be mostly ignored by the company's tailor-made suits...
