"They meet over an abyss"

Josefin, who grew up in Sweden, was told the same exciting fairy tale all her childhood when she asked her family about the story of her aunt Augusta, sister of her Peruvian father, who died in 1988. Josefin now knows better, but she still has many more questions than answers about the woman who founded the brutal, Maoist guerrilla movement Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) with her husband Abimael Guzmán. To better understand both her aunt and the history of the country, Josefin, against her father's wishes, decides to travel to Peru. The young woman visits a variety of places and people to help her find the truth. The emotional encounters are interspersed with archive footage of the guerrilla movement and the bloody civil war it caused.
