Stad van Verlangen plot

This year it is 100 years since the German architect Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus: a revolutionary academy for architects, artists and industrial designers. Their ideal was to create beautiful and functional design that was accessible to everyone. When Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933, the progressive Bauhaus was closed by the Nazis. Due to the growing anti-Semitism in Europe, many Jews fled to the British Mandate of Palestine.
