Sonita plot
If 18-year-old Sonita had to choose, Michael Jackson would be her father and Rihanna her mother. In a scrapbook she depicts her dream of standing in front of a large crowd as a famous rapper. For now, her only fans are the other teenage girls in a shelter in Tehran. There Sonita, who has fled from Afghanistan, finds support in processing her traumas and shaping her future. In the eyes of her family, she looks very different: as a bride she is worth 9000 dollars.
