Solo - Out of a Dream plot
Jos de Putter returns with football star Leonardo to the slums of Rio de Janeiro, where he filmed him at the age of eleven for his documentary Solo – The Law of the Favela. Willem van Hanegem brought problem child Leonardo to Feyenoord after seeing Solo, after which he grew into a top football player. De Putter only wanted to capture the lives of Leonardo and his boyfriend and never thought for a moment that his film could change Leonardo's future. De Putter wonders what the consequences are when you have played God as a filmmaker and what has become of those who stayed behind. Those left behind are, for example, his old friends – as far as they are still alive – but especially Leonardo's mother, who now lives in a million-dollar villa. However, the contact between Leonardo and his mother appears to have taken tragic forms. Both speak candidly about the grievances they feel towards each other.
