Smiling in a War Zone plot

Female pilots fascinate Simone Aaberg Kærn. Old ladies, who flew fighter planes during the war, challenged her to become a pilot herself. In the newspaper she reads an article about twelve-year-old Farial, a girl from Afghanistan, who also wants to become a pilot on a fighter plane. This is the start of a special project. Simone decides to fly her small canvas plane from Denmark to Afghanistan. Once there, she wants to make a flight with Farial as captain. Not an easy task because since the 2001 attack on the WTC, New York, many airspaces have been closed to the public. Her journey requires the necessary perseverance. In an attempt to free the airspace, she ends up illegally flying into Afghanistan.
