Slammers plot
Slammers is a documentary about a number of young poets who perform in bars and festivals. The director has been visiting these evenings since the rise of the Slam phenomenon. In the film, he follows the first annual winners of the Amsterdam Slamcafé Festina Lente: Sven Ariaans, Eus and Erik Jan Harmens. He also films the breakthrough of the young talent from Groningen, Sieger M. Geertsma. We see the poets perform enthusiastically in cafes and pop temples all over the country. The best poets come to the fore by participating in a Poetry Slam; a word contest for the public in which content and performance are equally important.
