Silent Flood plot
Residents of a pacifist, traditional religious community have lived secluded for decades in a picturesque landscape along the Dniester River in western Ukraine. Their struggle against the rapidly fluctuating water levels has often disrupted their peaceful existence, but since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, their peaceful way of life has been threatened by a greater threat.

As the trailer already shows, the visuals in this documentary are beautiful. But as I had already feared based on that: the documentary provides only the most rudimentary information about the film's subject, because the approach is explicitly impressionistic, meaning that atmosphere and beautiful images are more important than the content. Or perhaps the content is important – I think the film aims to show that the inherently isolated Amish-like community in Ukraine, which does not fight in the war, nevertheless becomes involved and voluntarily helps the soldiers at the front – but I have already said just about everything the film says about that in this sentence. It left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied and leaving the cinema unfulfilled, even though the film is aesthetically very beautiful.
