Shirkers plot
"There are movers, there are shakers, and there are shirkers."
In 1992, teenage Sandi Tan and her friends Sophie and Jasmine shot Singapore's first indie road movie entitled "Shirkers" - with the help of their enigmatic American mentor Georges Cardona. Sandi wrote the screenplay and played the lead role, a murderer named S. After filming was finished, Georges disappeared with all the footage. It is now 25 years later, and Sandi Tan, now a writer in LA, recovers the stolen footage from the film. She thinks back to the time with the man who stole the statues and returns to the land of her youth. The 16mm film cans are being restored in New Orleans; the film comes back to life in a way she never expected.
