Shake the Devil Off plot
After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, 'The New New Orleans' is to rise on the ruins of 'The Old New Orleans'. But for the members of the Roman Catholic St Augustine Church, the demolition continues: the atmospheric wooden church is threatened with closure by the bishop. Father LeDoux, 75, encourages his parishioners to resist. They are assisted in this by swinging musical talent. The film follows the pattern of an Easter story, in which the popular priest first has to clear the field and then returns. The biblical references and the image rhyme are not out of the blue. The closing titles show that the saying 'that ends well, all's well' does not apply literally.
