Saving Mes Aynak plot

“Like a mother watching her child die right before her eyes,” archaeologist Qadir Temori describes his feelings about the excavations in danger of being destroyed as a Chinese mining company gears up to extract copper from the Mes Aynak site in Afghanistan . Temori is here with an international team of experts and volunteers – defying the threat of terror – uncovering magnificent archaeological treasures that he says are comparable in size to a find like Pompeii. A race against time, as the mining company has given archaeologists limited time to excavate the 2,000-year-old Buddhist structures and relics.
