SAMAR - Are We Flying or Falling? plot

The social-anarchist kibbutz Samar is a green oasis in the Israeli desert, with beautiful palm trees that produce the sweetest dates. For the past forty years, the people of Samar have tried what the rest of the country can't: living together based on trust, solidarity and open dialogue. This documentary follows life in Samar over a year, starting with the date harvest in the intense summer heat. The hard work during the harvest unites the community. But once that common goal is achieved and the conscientious consensual Samaritans must make decisions about business and community management, it becomes clear that their way of life is not all roses.
