On March 28, 2023, composer Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away after battling cancer. In the years leading up to his death, Sakamoto had become unable to perform live. Single concerts, not to mention extensive worldwide tours, had become too taxing. Nevertheless, in late 2022, Sakamoto mustered all his energy to leave the world with one final performance: a concert film featuring just him and his piano. Composed by Sakamoto himself and presented in the order he chose, the film’s twenty pieces wordlessly tell the story of his life through his music.
