Rolando Villazón - Ein Mexikanischer Traum plot
Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón – a cross between Mr. Bean and a Latin lover – is embraced by opera fans worldwide. Filmmakers Daniel Finkernagel and Alexander Lück followed Villazón with a camera for two years. Villazón reminisces about his first competitions, he visits his old primary school in Mexico City and talks about the seminary where he was a history teacher for five years. We also see the much sought-after tenor preparing successful productions. Such as the legendary La Traviata production from 2005 during the Salzburg Festival. Villazón shone there with star soprano Anna Netrebko on stage. The documentary tells the story of his life, not so much chronologically, but more associatively and emotionally.
