River of Death plot

Brazil is currently experiencing one of the worst environmental disasters ever. After a dam burst, a huge amount of toxic mud flowed into the Rio Doce. It is called the 'river of death', full of arsenic, zinc, lead, mercury and manganese. The venom kills everything in its path, a path that leads to the largest marine breeding ground in the Atlantic. Filmmaker Elizabeth Salgado grew up at the Rio Doce, swimming in the river as a teenager. She follows the river of death to the ocean.
