Rio 50 Degrees plot
The bustling metropolis of Rio de Janeiro has undergone countless developments in the past fifty years: from political unrest, drug wars and poverty to a city that can host both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. Director Julien Temple shows Rio through the eyes of its inhabitants: the Cariocas. He portrays the great diversity in an original way: from students to taxi drivers, from influential artists to wealthy widows. Brazil's troubled history, in which slavery, dictatorship and gang wars play a major role, contrasts sharply with the eternal positivism of the current inhabitants.
