Resisting Paradise plot

In 1999, documentary filmmaker Barbara Hammer went to the French Riviera to make a documentary about the Mediterranean light and landscape. She changed her focus and decided to make a film about resistance fighters and contrast their history with that of the artists Bonnard and Matisse. Despite the Nazi occupation, they made works of art and portraits in the light of this Riviera. The film asks what our responsibilities are in times of war and how art can survive in these uncertain times.
