Rebel Hearts plot
In 1960s Los Angeles, a group of nuns, the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, bravely stood up to the patriarchy of the Catholic Church. They fought for equality, their livelihood and their own freedom against an almighty cardinal who wanted to keep them in their place. Their bold acts of faith, resistance and activism rocked the Church and helped reshape our society in ways that still resonate today. From the March in Selma in 1965 to the Women's March in 2018, they challenged the idea of what a nun and a woman should be.
