Pura Vida - The Ridge plot
The south face of Mount Annapurna, in the Nepalese part of the Himalayas, is known among mountaineers as the most dangerous climb in the world. Before the summit can be reached at more than 8,000 meters above sea level, a more than seven kilometer long ridge at an altitude of 7,500 meters has to be crossed. An almost impossible task, certainly for the 'pure' climbers, who go into the thin air without oxygen tanks. It is on that ridge that the experienced Spanish climber Iñaki Ochoa de Olza becomes fatally ill in 2008. His companion Horia Colibasanu sounds the alarm, and from the base camp a unique and life-threatening rescue operation is launched, ultimately involving twelve climbers. This documentary travels the world to let the twelve have their say.
