Pociągi plot

Archival film that paints a collective portrait of people in twentieth-century Europe, their hopes and aspirations, their dramas and tragedies. Scenes of the assembly of steam locomotives and railway carriages seem like an ode to human ingenuity and labour. Festively dressed people travel by train. But these cheerful scenes soon make way for soldiers being transported to the front—soon followed by images of an evacuation of civilians, a ragged procession of prisoners of war, and soldiers with amputated limbs.
