Peak plot

The mountains are calling! Every year many tourists travel to the winter paradise of the South Tyrolean Alps. Hannes Lang's documentary takes a look at the mountains in these changing times, but the paradisiacal idyll also has its drawbacks. Plagued by mass tourism, the snow giants are no longer as pristine as they once were. Climate change is taking its toll and there is less and less snow. To compensate for this loss, expensive technology is needed so that thanks to giant snow cannons you would always find the mountains as white as in a winter wonderland. 'Peak' also shows how the areas are extinct out of season. There is a huge exodus in the countryside. Some of the last residents and farmers tell with melancholy about times gone by and how the landscape around them has been affected by the arrival of the huge ski resorts.
