In the opening scene, Marijn Frank asks her best friend Annemarie to address her 6-year-old daughter Anna through the camera as if she were already dead. At that time it is not at all certain whether that will happen in the short term, as soon becomes apparent in this very personal documentary that jumps back and forth between before and after Annemarie's death from cancer. Conversations about her visible decline and preparation for approaching death alternate with a portrait of Marijn, who feels a deep hole after the loss of Annemarie and hopes to find some sense of purpose by following in Annemarie's footsteps by throwing herself into running , with the aim of finishing the Berlin Marathon. The first conversation with her running coach Hesdy Lonwijk is memorable, the development she is going through is much more complex than she could have imagined. Both women expose their souls and that may feel a bit uncomfortable, but can also be very moving. So bravo for cameraman Victor Horstink, but also for the editing of Moek de Groot.

Certainly not badly made, but I do miss some added value for me as a viewer. It remains an individual experience like so many, which is made somewhat grander by this form. Not so special actually, which is difficult to say with a heavy subject.
