Orchestra of Exiles plot
"He rescued some of the world's greatest musicians to create one of the world's greatest orchestras"
Shortly after their seizure of power in 1933, the Nazis began to remove Jewish musicians from the orchestras of the Third Reich. Many of them, as far as possible, went into exile. 75 such musicians, emigrants and refugees, founded the Palestine Symphony Orchestra in 1936 under the direction of the world-famous Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman. From then on, the violinist and his orchestra members not only give a sign of resistance against the Nazi terror, but also support hundreds of colleagues, provide them with protection and assistance and in this way save them from persecution and death. Supported by, among others, the Italian star conductor Arturo Toscanini, Albert Einstein and other prominent figures, this orchestra formed the Israel Philharmonic Orchester after the Second World War in Israel, which to this day is still one of the world's leading orchestras.
