Omveje til Frihed plot

The Danish-American woman Áàme Nameth ended up in a Thai prison at the age of 23 after she was caught smuggling heroin at the Bangkok airport with her mother. After four and a half years in a Thai cell, she is transferred to America, where she is taken in by her best friend, the documentary maker Sidse Stausholm. Deeply involved in her friend's fate, she follows Áàme during the first year after her release; from the euphoria of breathing fresh air and buying a bottle of shampoo, to the moment of the backlash.
