Nostalgia plot
When the Georgian director Tato Kotetishvili came to the Netherlands shortly after his wedding ceremony in 1988, Georgia was torn apart by two civil wars and turned into a ruin. In the personal documentary Nostalgia, Tato returns to his destroyed city of Tsbilisi in the spring of 1997. There he wants to make a film in which everyone can be seen who was also present at his wedding party. Video recordings of his wedding ceremony, old photos and emotional encounters with friends, acquaintances and neighbors show that the unity they once formed is no longer there; some died, others went away, others have changed completely. His childhood is only nostalgia and Tato feels like a stranger in his own country. He passed away shortly after Tato returned to the Netherlands to finish his film. His partner and colleague Ineke Smits completed the documentary.
