Nargis: When Time Stopped Breathing plot
Cyclone Nargis caused death and destruction in Myanmar (formerly Burma, a poverty-stricken country run by a kind of Junta) in May 2008. Strong winds, heavy rainfall, and high waves caused extensive damage in the delta of the Irrawaddy River. The United Nations is currently holding between 60,000 and 100,000 dead. The Myanmar government was accused of seriously underestimating the severity. After the disaster, much foreign aid was refused because it was feared that the aid workers planned to help overthrow the government. Some young filmmakers from the country ignored the ban on filming and made this documentary.
