Mother's Balls plot

Amber Vineyard is the founder of the first ballroom house in the Netherlands. There, LGBTQ+ performers are free to express themselves on the dance floor. In America, Amber Vineyard got to know herself on the dance floor of ballroom houses, where the LGBTQ+ community is fully embraced. Within the walls of the ballroom they are safe to dress, express and behave as they please. For example, the ballroom scene acts as a decisive emancipating factor for many young people who feel marginalized elsewhere. Once arrived in Rotterdam, Vineyard missed such opportunities. This documentary portrait follows her as she establishes her own home and inspires a new generation as a matriarch of the ballroom.
